Renée Claire Massé, 57, died peacefully at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick on January 24. Formerly of Hunts Avenue in Pawtucket, she was born on August 3, 1964, the daughter of the late Bertrand Massé and Lucille (Lussier) Massé.
Renée was a tireless worker in various companies in Rhode Island and Massachusetts in earlier years including Creed Rosary, Cherry & Webb, and the Countryside Deli. She was a reliable personal assistant for many years to a disabled friend, and, during Renee’s healthier years, was often spotted miles from home, pushing her friend’s wheelchair, the two of them engaged in robust discussion. She was a long-time member of the Saint Cecilia’s adult choir under the direction of her father.
Renée will be lovingly remembered for her vivid memory of long-lost details, her enjoyment of old fashioned television and classic movies and Westerns, her strong will in any discussion, and her devoted love of family as well as her joy and care of her beloved feline friends.
Renée is survived by five siblings, Claude of Middletown, CT, Nicole Higginbotham and her husband Kenneth of Cranston, Paul and his wife Donna of Exeter, Guy of Pawtucket, with whom she lived for many years, and Pierre and his wife Janet of Warwick, as well as her cherished nieces and nephews Colin, Patrick, Molly, Michael, Robert, Michelle, Julie, Theresa and John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Paul II Church, (formerly Saint Cecilia's Church), at the corner of Newport and Central Avenues, Pawtucket, Thursday, January 27, at 11:00am, followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Ten Lives Cat Rescue, tenlivescatrescue.org will be gratefully received in her memory.
